Myntra Analytics Manager Interview Questions

The interview process started in Oct’21 and took around 10 days for the complete process. I had a few friends in Myntra whose inputs were very vital for the whole process. I also used The Data Monk for interview preparation and it was of great help, that’s why I thought of sharing the whole process with a wider audience.

The designation was Analytics Manager but it was an individual contribution(IC) role. There were in total 4 rounds of interviews. The first three rounds were technical with some case studies and the last one was a Hiring Manager Round. All the rounds were conducted online. Let’s discuss each round in detail.

Round 1 – SQL

Round 1 was completely around SQL, there were at least 20 questions asked to make sure that my basics were correct. The questions were more around joins, execution of the query, how to optimize a query,
there were a few questions on self join like (when to use self join and another question was analogous to getting manager’s name from a table containing employee name, id, and manager id )
Then there were questions on the volume of data I have worked on in the past. Tools used in the past companies.

I have a good amount of experience in SQL, Python, Machine Learning Algorithms, and Tableau. So some basic questions on these were also asked (It will completely depend on your resume. I have used The Data Monk’s e-books and Hacker rank website and thus was able to go through this round

Round 2 – SQL Advance and Basics of Python

The Second Round was mostly around advanced SQL and basic Python. There was one question where we need an approach from you guys, this question was discussed for more than 20 minutes, so try to attempt the question below:-

Then there were questions around unnesting a table. I have faced multiple interviews in the last few months and have found that there are two questions that are very much asked these days.

Unnesting or Exploding a query
Difference between SQL and No SQL

Please go through these questions or articles in detail. Google if you need help

For Python, the questions were mostly around tuple, dictionary, numpy and pandas. There were around 7-10 basic questions on Python

Round 3 – SQL, Project and Data Pipeline

Round three was again into SQL but this time my whole project was discussed which has extensive use of SQL and creating pipelines. I have worked on airflow in the past, thus the complete data pipeline was discussed in detail.
A basic tutorial is there on this website which might give you a gist of the things present in Data Pipeline.

Data Pipeline for an absolute beginner

Be very very prepared with your resume and projects. Solve at least 40-50 questions from each topic which is mentioned on the resume. And if you have 3+ years of experience then do make sure to have an overview of the data pipeline of your organization.

SQL questions were around date formats, dealing with JSON and arrays. The concept of aggregating a table was also discussed as I have mentioned that I have created multiple aggregate tables in my previous organization.

There was a case study which you can try in the below question:

Round 4 – Hiring Manager Round

Well, this was not a simple ‘Where do you see yourself in next 5 years kind of round’
The one important thing which the hiring manager looks at in a candidate is whether he/she can fit into the new organization. The other important thing is to make sure that you are thorough with your projects and you can very rarely expect a few superficial technical questions.

For example – If you are coming from a service-based company then it’s a major checkpoint, it’s not that there is a bias for product-based companies in Myntra but the manager needs to know your expectation from the company. Sometimes a manager working in a service-based company might have an expectation of no hands-on work in a product-based company. So, these types of cultural questions are asked in these interviews.

In nutshell, you need to work on your communication skills and also understand the previous rounds feedbacks
